Honeymoon by Avid

by Nick Paggiaro

I and my wife Elena have a 14 years old model C Avid Flyer.
In June 2002 we were in honeymoon and we travelled with our plane from our town Vicenza, 40 km from Venice, to southern Italy to see all our country from the sky.
I think that in the USA a 10 day travel of about 2.400 Km is quite common, on the contrary in Italy flight is not a common activity, imagine that as a honeymoon!

Castel Del Monte, an ancient castle in southern Italy built by Emperor Federico II around year 1290. This is not only a castle, it is also a calendar because the walls and the windows are oriented to the sun, moon and main planets and stars positions in the sky in the most important days (Christmas and so on...)

Elena, myself and our plane at Altamura airfield, a dusty and windy airfield 1.200 kilometres far from home, in southern Italy.

OSTUNI is an old town close to the sea, called "The White Town" because of his white houses. The lower side of the town is the older one, with his circular plant.

Is a picture of San Marino, in northern Italy, toward home. It's a typical ancient town on the top of an hill, born in the mid ages to defend people against conquerors.

LAKE LESINA - left side the Adriatic Sea, at right side the Lesina Lake
typical hills in centre Italy
